It may take a bit longer to cook, but the result is worth it. Go for it whenever you have some spare time in the morning to prepare it but also to enjoy it! I love it in quiet winter mornings I can spend at home.
The key to an amazing and delicious porridge is of course good quality ingredients and the right techniques.
Try to go for organic always you can. For creamy porridge I prefer to use medium-ground oats, they may be more proccesed but are the key for an incredible smooth texture.
Also to consider is the type of liquid we use, a high fat milk like full fat cow’s milk, almond milk or coconut cream, will give you a richer texture. Although I like to use half water, half milk.
The technique is easy, just cook the oats under low heat for longer time so those oats will break down and will release the starch in the oats making a creamier porridge.
And last but not least, salt. A tiny bit of salt while cooking, will bring out the sweetness of any toppings.
Now that you have all the secrets for a delicious and healthy velvety porridge, you just need to focus on your favourite toppings. Fruit, jam, nuts or any nutritional booster you have in mind.
Underneath you will find specific details for getting the top creamiest porridge and one of my favourite toppings. It is classic but it is always a success.
